Do You Need A Department Of Transportation Medical Exam? What is a DOT exam? DOT stands for Department of Transportation. The Department of Transportation requires a medical examination to make sure you qualify to drive a commercial vehicle in the state of Idaho. Once you pass, you will receive a copy of the exam and your certification. We will forward a copy directly to the local Department of Transportation office for you.
